Installation Choices

Beach House Stairs stocks clear grade timber for stairs and balustrades in a variety of timbers, including:

• Black Butt
• Blue Gum
• Brush Box
• Cypress (laminated)
• Jarrah; a dark red hardwood from Western Australia
• Meranti (also known as Maple or Philippine Mahogany)
• Radiata Pine
• Spotted Gum
• Victorian Ash (also known as Tasmanian Oak)

The stairs, balusters, handrails and newell posts can be made from any of these timbers, or a combination of them if that is desired.

If the treads and risers are to be covered, for example with carpet, then Beach House Stairs would normally use medium density fibre board (MDF) which reduces material and production costs, while producing a good, sound staircase.

• Variations can be made to the basic stair styles, and special styling can be arranged and designed as required.
• Pine saves on cost of materials and is easier to paint than Meranti.
• Meranti, being more porous takes stains well and can be clear finished.
• Victorian Ash or Tasmanian Oak is usually clear finished to show the character and warmth of this fine Australian timber.
